Dry skin is when the skin lacks the right amount of water in the deep layers of the epidermis (skin) and produces less sebum. Dry skin can happen to anyone, even people with oily skin can experience dry skin. Dry skin can occur on any part of the body, including the face, legs, hands or arms. In more aggressive cases, referred to as eczema, rosacea, psoriasis or dermatitis which requires a trip to the dermatologist.

You have Dry Skin if …

  • Skin feels rough and scaly
  • Skin feels dry and tight
  • Skin usually flakes and itches
  • Skin looks dull and parched/dehydrated
  • Usually reacts to most products

Good news is- there are a lot of products out there that can help hydrate, nourish and replenish dry dull skin.

Bad news is- Dry skin tends to age faster and is more prone to wrinkles. However, with the right skin care product/routine and lifestyle changes, dry skin can be rejuvenated- gain back its luster, feel and look healthy.

A multitude of things can cause dry skin

  • Genetics (Thank your parents NOT)
  • Climate & location (winter months, low humidity, heaters & environmental effects)
  • Harsh products( soaps, solvents-alcohol)
  • Hot water (washing face with hot water strips the skin’s natural oils)
  • Health (medical conditions and medications)

As you age, the sebaceous glands produce less sebum and the skin loses protein (collagen). Your skin composition will change throughout your life time. It is important to evaluate your skin every few years to make sure you are using the right skincare products for your skin

Why it's important to...

Cleanse
Cleansing should be kept at a minimal. Dry skin types can get away without cleansing the skin every morning to avoid over drying.  If you must cleanse daily, use our cleanser water or Honey cleanser to help retain moisture and remove dirt. A gentle cleanser is key to avoid stripping the skins’ natural oils and prevent over drying

Exfoliate
Dry skin tends to flake up. It’s important to exfoliate at least 1-2x a week to remove dead skin, unclog pores and promote healthy cell turnover. Exfoliating also helps even skin tone and reduce dead skin buildup and minimize fine lines.

Tone
Toners help remove residual dirt, help clear pores and tighten skin. Use toners to prep the skin to receive and absorb more nutrients.

Mist
Seal the deal with our nutrient dense botanical distillates for a hydrating finish. Mists help seal in moisture and keep the skin soft and hydrated. It can be used throughout the day to help replenish lost moisture.

Moisturize
Lock in all that moisture and nutrients with our face serums and face butter. Creamy moisturizers can also add an extra layer of hydration  which helps prevent moisture loss.

Sunscreen
If you are going to be exposed to the SUN, DO NOT FORGET YOUR SUNSCREEN. Sunscreens are vital in protecting the skin from UV damages and premature aging. SPF30 or more depending on your needs.
