Combination skin keeps true to its name and is characterized by having dual skin types (dry and oily) on different parts of the face, usually referred to as the T-ZONE. The T-ZONE (forehead, nose and chin) are mostly oily and the cheeks, around mouth and eyes are dry to normal. The T-Zone exhibits the same characteristics as an Oily skin type (produces excess sebum/production) while the cheeks and other parts mirror Drier skin types ( less sebum production.)

You have Combination Skin if …

  • Your forehead, nose, chin are always oily/shiny
  • You usually breakout along the T-Zone
  • Your cheeks, around mouth and eyes are drier than the T-Zone
  • You have enlarged pores along the T-Zone

Good news is- there are a lot of products  that can help nourish, replenish and balance the skin. You can benefit from multiple products that target both skin types.

Bad news is- You need to buy/use two different products to treat each skin type. There is no one type fits all when it comes to this skin type. You will have to treat each area with exactly what it needs to thrive and glow.

A multitude of things can cause normal skin

  • Genetics (Thank your parents NOT)

  • Over active sebum glands

  • Underactive sebum production
  • Skincare choices (abrasive and chemical filled products)

As you age, the sebaceous glands produce less sebum and the skin loses protein (collagen). Your skin composition will change throughout your life time. It is important to evaluate your skin every few years to make sure you are using the right skincare products for your skin

      Why it's important to...

      Cleanse
Cleansing with a gentle cleanser is key with this skin type. Start your day right –impurities, dirt and oil can built up overnight and clog the pores. Cleanse the skin to remove any impurities. Use a gentle cleanser to avoid stripping the skin. Our Manuka Honey cleanser can help moisturize and unclog pores, while minimizing breakouts and oiliness on the T-Zone.

      Exfoliate
Combination skin requires twice the work, divide and conquer technique. Both need exfoliation but two different delivery methods. Exfoliate less on the drier parts and more emphasis on the oiler parts to revitalize skin pores and promote healthy cell turnover.

      Tone
Toners help remove residual dirt, help clear pores and tighten skin. Use toners to prep the skin to receive and absorb more nutrients. Use our (Juniper Tea Tree or Ylang Ylang )for the T-Zone and our (Helichrysum or Calendula Carrot) for the dry/normal parts of the face. You can opt to go all in with the Helichrysum toner and still get the full dual benefits of this amazing healing plant.

      Mist
Seal the deal with our nutrient dense botanical distillates for a hydrating finish. Mists help seal in moisture and keep the skin soft and hydrated. Both areas (dry and oily) will benefit from our hydrating botanical mists.

      Moisturize
Lock in all that moisture and nutrients with our light weight serums for your T-Zone and for the drier parts, layer with a moisturizer or our face butter.

      Sunscreen
If you are going to be exposed to the SUN, DO NOT FORGET YOUR SUNSCREEN. Sunscreens are vital in protecting the skin from UV damages and premature aging. SPF30 or more depending on your needs.
